Back in February, we got a Yacht Club Games Presents showcase full of great new games. One of the people in charge of putting together the presentation was Celia Schilling. A few days later I had a chance to chat from with Celia.
Here’s the Yacht Club Games Presents (2.1.22), in case you missed it:
I’ve been a big fan of Yacht Club Games as a developer and publisher. The Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove collection was one of my first digital games purchased on the Nintendo Switch. Playing through the different Shovel Knight games takes me back to those early days with the Switch, when every time I dropped it into the dock I was surprised at the sorcery of the game going instantly to my television.
Celia Schilling is the Marketing and Licensing Manager for Yacht Club Games and has been there for over two years. It was very cool to be able to talk to her days after the Yacht Club Games Presents showcase, especially since she was finally able to talk about Mina the Hollower and some other new projects.
Since this was a few months ago there is a lot more Mina the Hollower information out there. The Kickstarter campaign has already ended, but we’ve seen some more gameplay and many updates. If you want to learn more about the upcoming game, you can do so on the Yacht Club Games site.
We also talked about the future of the “ShovelVerse,” and the upcoming Shovel Knight games:
Celia is a big fan of retro games, which ties into her position since Yacht Club Games have traditionally developed and published many games in that style: Shovel Knight, Cyber Shadow, and now Mina the Hollower.
I want to say thank you to Celia for giving us some of her time to chat about video games, and what it’s been like to work at a company that she was a fan of before she even started there.

Yacht Club Games is responsible for the Shovel Knight series of games, as well as publishing Cyber Shadow.
Be on the lookout for more Mina the Hollower and Shovel Knight Dig news.
I also wanted to give a shoutout to Jake Kaufman, composer and sound designer for Shovel Knight, the Shantae games, Double Dragon Neon, and the upcoming Mina the Hollower soundtrack.
