Back in mid-December I received my PlayStation Wrap-Up — along with one from Apple Music, Steam, YouTube, and even one for New York Times Games. The main one I was waiting for didn’t show up until mid-January — my Nintendo Wrap-Up.
I can now say that it was well worth those few extra weeks of waiting. I had planned on sharing my 2025 gaming data last week, but I was busy getting married in Savannah, GA. Now that I’m back (and married) it is time to go over my gaming stats for 2025.
PlayStation Wrap-Up 2025
After looking through my PlayStation 2025 Wrap-Up, I thought it was pretty thorough. This is exactly what I had expected based on the last few years. I got to see my top played games, percentage of playtime, gaming hours, number of games played, trophy count.

My five most played games started off with Final Fantasy XVI at 68 hours. This one took me almost the entire year to beat, with a couple of long breaks in between. I spent half of that amount of time beating my second most played game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle — a total of 34 hours.
My third, fourth, and fifth most played games were all one hour apart in playtime. Absolum at 25 hours, Fall Guys at 24 hours, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows at 23. I believe I just reached 26 hours of playtime in EA Sports FC 26, so that would have been number six on the list.

I always have at least one competitive online game (new or old) on my list. This year it was Fall Guys, but in previous years it’s been Rocket League, Overwatch, and also Fall Guys. I spent a total of 465 hours playing 73 different games on my PlayStation 5, although by the end of 2025 I’m sure I had reached closer to 500 hours. I definitely played a lot of PS5 during holiday weeks.

My trophy count always leans heavily on the Bronze trophies, but I know most games (or every game) has way more Bronze than Silver or Gold trophies to collect. Out of my 304 trophies, 226 were Bronze. I achieved zero Platinum trophies in 2025, but I will be going for at least one in 2026, when I start Ghost of Yōtei.

With my purchase of the PlayStation Portal I also received some data on my handheld gaming. I spent a total of 29 hours on my PS Portal during 112 play sessions. I mostly play on the Portal before bed for just a couple of minutes until I get sleepy. It’s also a great couch device while watching something mindless on TV.
There may have been more information than that, but I was planning on returning to my PlayStation Wrap-Up once I received the Nintendo Switch one. The problem was that the PlayStation information was no longer available once I received it, so I’ve included the few screenshots I captured during that initial skim on my iPhone.
Nintendo Wrap-Up 2025
Nintendo had an interesting year with the release of their brand new console, the Nintendo Switch 2 — which I picked up at midnight on Day One (or Day Zero). My Nintendo Switch hours started off pretty low, but once I made the “switch” to the new Nintendo Switch 2 in June, my hours shot up. From May to June, I went from only 5 hours of playtime to 53 after picking up the new hardware.

On both Nintendo hybrid consoles (Nintendo Switch and Switch 2) I spent a total of almost 300 hours playing 56 different games. My most played game was Mario Kart World at 108 hours, which is funny since the game launched in the middle of 2025. If the Switch 2 would have released at the beginning of 2025, would I have over 200 hours of Mario Kart World? Probably not.

My second and third most played games were older indie games I recently jumped back into to get ready for their long-anticipated sequels. I logged 30 more hours in Hollow Knight, but didn’t get much further in the game. I did manage to finally escape Hades in Hades after logging another 19 hours. I’m now ready for Hades II, but still need to finish Hollow Knight before exploring Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Another added bonus from the Nintendo Wrap-Up was getting a month-by-month breakdown of hours and top games played. It’s nice to report that my most played game changed almost every month with the exception of the three Summer months, where we were completely obsessed with Mario Kart World. I had plenty of indie games dominate my hours throughout the year — including Cabernet, Star Overdrive, BALL x PIT, and Demonschool.
Where Nintendo really went above and beyond was with their full Nintendo Switch original console lifecycle recap. After receiving your 2025 Wrap-Up, it became a full review of your time with the original Nintendo Switch. They went all the way back to 2017, and I found my Nintendo Switch about a month after it arrived.
It was nice to see all of these games I had forgotten about, some that I may have to re-download to play some more in 2026. What a beautiful sendoff to the original Nintendo Switch, which I still keep around in case of emergencies. I traveled with my original Nintendo Switch to play some Hollow Knight in October, in case my [now wife] wanted to play some Mario Kart World while I was gone.
The Nintendo Switch was such an iconic, game-changing console. It’s because of the Nintendo Switch that we now have products like the PlayStation Portal, SteamDeck, ROG Ally, and the many other high-quality handheld gaming devices. Still, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 are the only ones that seamlessly go from handheld to docked mode.
I now understand why the Nintendo Switch Wrap-Up took a bit longer to create. They gave us 2025, plus eight extra years of our Nintendo Switch history. How will they top this in our 2026 Wrap-Up?
What’s Next?
What I love about these yearly Wrap-Ups is how it reminds you of some big gaming moments from the previous year. You also get to see if there may be a certain game you’ve been waiting to return to.
While I always spend more of my gaming time on my PlayStation 5, Nintendo did win the Wrap-Up competition this year. They gave me my total gaming hours from the past nine years, including 346 hours spent in Animal Crossing: New Horizons — thanks to the pandemic.
Other than letting us know that we may be spending too much time playing games, I was also informed about some unfinished games. While I finished the main story in both Indiana Jones and the Great Circle along with Final Fantasy XVI, I still have some DLC to start and complete.
I ended 2025 and began 2026 with Dragon Age: The Veilguard on PlayStation 5 and Donkey Kong: Bonanza on Nintendo Switch 2. Let’s see if those are my most played games when we reach the end of 2026 — or will it be something else?
